Beirut Women filmfest screens ‘Bandar Band’

Iranian feature ‘Bandar Band’ has made its way to the Beirut International Women Film Festival in Lebanon.

Made by Manijeh Hekmat, the film is being screened at the 2022 edition of the event.

The film is about a small musical band from one of the remote counties of southern Iran. The band is striving to take part in an unofficial competition in a coffee shop in Tehran.

Mahla and the other members of the band, including her husband and one of his close friends, embark on a trip to Tehran when they have lost everything in a flood.

Founded in 2017, BWFF focuses on the theme of “Women for Leadership”. The festival highlights the role of women as leader in their societies.

This year’s edition of the event is currently underway from March 6-11.
